Project Tangiblog

6/3/2012

Picture
Project Tangiblog is my newest project to date. The idea is based on my love of tangibility. I love the look and the feel of books and chapbooks. I have an incredibly difficult time reading poetry on the computer, or on any other screen for that matter. It's also based on my love of receiving packages in the mail.

Basically, if you sign up with Project Tangiblog you will receive something from Puddles of Sky Press in your mailbox, every month. What to expect? Mini-Chapbooks, Post Cards, Broadside Publications, New Releases, and anything else we're producing. To sign up, check out the "Broadsides & Other Stuff " section of the website. A 6 month subscription is only $12, with all shipping included.

It's for people who like poetry, artwork, receiving mail that isn't a bill, and above all, tangibility. Check it out. And feel free to Contact Us if you have any questions.

illiterature. issue 1. Launch

4/24/2012

Last night was the illiterature. issue 1 launch & poetry reading. The weather outside was awful, but inside, we had fantastic readings, a very attentive audience and an incredible atmosphere. There were readings by Conor Barnes, Bruce Kauffman, Jason Heroux and Sarah Tsiang, all of which were great. Everyone stuck around for a while afterwards and enjoyed each others company, and everyone seemed pleased with how the night turned out. I couldn't have hoped for a better launch. Thanks to everyone for making it possible: everyone who read, Christine + Nick for helping with sales, Allison for taking so many wonderful photos, and to everyone who came out just to pick up a copy and to hear some poetry. I'm looking forward to issue 2!

if you haven't got a copy of illiterature. issue 1 yet, check out our Chapbooks page, or Contact Us.

FOR SALE: Post Script, a book of afterthoughts

4/2/2012

Picture
After folding, stapling and gluing 100 copies of my new book I am both exhausted and incredibly exited to announce that Post Script, a book of afterthoughts is finished!

Check out the Chapbooks page to read two of the poems and for ordering options.

On another note, illiterature. issue 1 is coming along well. At this point it's down to some fine tuning with editing and formatting. I'm also in the process of establishing a Launch Date/Reading. Keep tuned because that will be something you will NOT want to miss.

Over & Out.

Cover Art Preview

3/23/2012

Picture
I promised everyone a preview of some art work from my newest Chapbook "Post Script, a book of afterthoughts" The picture to the left is part of the cover. There are about 4 or 5 drawings spaced throughout the publication, most have a surreal tint to them, some illustrate the images found in a few of the poems.

The Chapbook is coming along according to schedule. I'm waiting on a card stock order to come in, and then I can pretty much go to print!

Happy Weekend Everyone!

New Chapbook in the works

3/13/2012

Well, it's been over a year since my last publication of linear poetry -- Run on Sentence, Run on! But I've been hard at work putting together a new chapbook of poetry and artwork. The poems being featured all have a surreal tint to them, a few of them being written after the style of selected Surrealist Poets of the 1920s. The tentative title is Post Script, a book of afterthoughts. It should be ready for release sometime in Mid-April, around the same time as illiterature. issue 1.

here's one of the poems from the book. I'll post one of the drawings soon.

Poem for Kingston

Welcome to this quiet afternoon
        the frozen lake
a single leaf clinging, the shuffle of boots
        the slow falling snow.

The bell tower tolls
        it’s four o’clock.
In the park the statues groan
and shift their weight to the opposite foot.

illiterature. issue 1 - in the works

3/4/2012

Well, the deadline for submissions has passed. But, as expected, there are a few stragglers that I'm waiting on before I can make some final editing decisions. I've got a ton of great stuff, enough to fill up issue 1, and to spill over to issue 2!

The next steps will be to pick and choose the writers and poems that I'll keep for this issue and then sequencing the poems. I'm looking forward to seeing the collection take shape and form. It's all coming along according to schedule, so expect a release sometime mid-April.

Time for another cup of coffee!

The Rain Wet Concrete- Reprinted

2/28/2012

I had a lot of firsts with this chapbook. My first book of concrete poetry. The first time I  ever broke even with sales. The first 'official reprint". The first time around folding and stapling 50 copies didn't seem like much work, but this time around it definitely took a while. It does feel like a relief to have them all finished up, and to have a big stack of chapbooks again. They'll sell quite a bit slower this time around, but that's okay, I kind of like having them around.

if you don't have a copy yet, you can get it here or contact us

Avast! The submissions start rolling in...

2/17/2012

Yesterday I set up the 'open call for submissions' on facebook, and have already started receiving submissions, some from as far away as Calgary. It's incredibly exciting and relieving  to see how eager poets are to share their work.

This morning was spent with a cup of coffee, reading over some of the work. I asked for weird stuff and that's exactly what I've got.
